South Park: The Complete Twenty-Fifth Season [Blu-Ray] (2022)

Reviewed by Colin Jacobson (October 6, 2026)

Bizarrely, Season 24 of South Park only include two episodes. Granted, both ran twice as long as usual, but that still equalled only four programs and that didn’t sound much like a “season”.

With Season 25, the series bounces back with a whopping six episodes! That might only mean 40 more minutes of South Park versus S24 but it feels like a step in the right direction.

This single Blu-ray Disc includes all six shows. The plot synopses come from the release’s liner notes.

Pajama Day (aired February 2, 2022): “PC Principal bans the entire fourth grade class from wearing their pajamas to school on the most important day of the year. Mr. Garrison has man trouble.”

The episode starts on a dumb note when Mr. Garrison goes on about his new boyfriend to the kids. This acts as a catalyst for the main plot, though, so I can forgive it.

I like that “Day” reminds we adults how important these trivial little in-school events could be for kids. Youngsters go nuts for these “special days” in ways that seem incomprehensible to us decades later.

“Day” also spoofs how the most minor controversies can now become social cause celebres. Of course, the series takes these concepts to an extreme, but it does so in an amusing manner that launches S25 pretty well.

The Big Fix (aired February 9, 2022): “Stan’s horrified to realize he’s misinterpreted some of the greatest writing of all time. Randy attends a cannabis expo where he discovers a shocking fact. Can Token help?”

As I’ve bemoaned in the past, South Park went downhill when it embraced Randy as a primary character. Granted, the series encountered other issues prior to that but Randy’s ascension became a real negative.

Outside of Randy’s prominence, “Fix” sputters because of its retroactive renaming of Token. This feels too cutesy by half.

Also, the concept of a white person who befriends Blacks for selfish reasons doesn’t exactly seem fresh. After a good start with “Pajama Day”, “Fix” shows a dip in quality.

City People (aired February 16, 2022): “When Cartman’s mom gets a job as a real estate agent, Cartman becomes inspired to enter the game himself. It’s not long before all hell breaks loose.”

“People” starts with a cheap premise that real estate agents are essentially worthless. There’s a point to be made there but “People” does so in an overly broad and forced manner.

“People” also makes fun of modern-day Yuppie equivalents. This lacks cleverness and takes on an easy target.

Cartman’s scheme almost redeems “People”. Unfortunately, the episode relies too much on cheap gags.

Back to the Cold War (aired March 2, 2022): “A lot is riding on Butters’ ability to crush the competition in the dressage competition.”

Mr. Mackey comes to the forefront here, as the episode casts him as nostalgic for the panic about nuclear war with the USSR from the 80s. Butters’ side also digs into anti-Russian sentiment when his parents urge him to beat a Russian competitor.

All this feels more like an opportunity to allow South Park to parody 80s “Russian Panic” movies. It doesn’t deliver a lot of laughs.

Help, My Teenager Hates Me! (aired March 9, 2022): “The boys find out that the joys of playing Airsoft come with the challenges of dealing with teenagers.”

After the clunkers of the last few, S25 rebounds with the amusing “Help”. It mostly shows the helplessness of teens and the challenges our fourth grade kids encounter dealing with them.

“Teens are stupid and obnoxious” doesn’t offer a new theme. Still, “Help” exploits it in a positive manner.

Credigree Weed St. Patrick’s Day Special (aired March 16, 2022): “Butters is shocked to learn that people in South Park don’t understand what St. Patrick’s Day is all about.”

South Park likes to take on Political Correctness, and that becomes the focus on both the Butters thread as well as one with Randy. I get the points the show wants to make but it tends to lean too far into its themes.

This leads to some laughs but the end product becomes too heavy-handed. A show that heavily involves Randy inevitably means S25 finishes on a less than great note.

The Disc Grades: Picture A/ Audio B/ Bonus F

South Park appears in an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 on this Blu-ray Disc. Lather, rinse, repeat: as with prior seasons, S25 offered terrific visuals.

Sharpness always excelled. The shows appeared tight and precise.

No issues with jaggies or moiré effects materialized, and I saw no edge haloes. Source flaws remained absent.

The series’ bright palette shined. Colors came across as bold and full.

Blacks seemed dense, while shadows felt pure. This would up as another great-looking set of shows.

In the same vein, S25’s Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio also matched up with what I heard in prior packages. This meant soundscapes with a lot to them.

Music showed good use of the channels and effects occasionally broadened in a decent manner, mainly via “action” scenes. None of this meant a particularly involving set of soundfields, though.

Audio quality worked nicely, though, with speech that became natural and distinctive. While effects lacked much to do, they seemed accurate and clean.

Music brought good range and punch. Nothing here excelled but the audio suited the shows.

No extras appear on the Blu-ray.

After the brief two-episode 24th season went well, I hoped for more of the same from Season 25. However, it gives us a mixed bag. The Blu-ray boasts excellent visuals and good audio but it lacks bonus materials. Perhaps Season 26 will offer a more consistent set of shows.
