VEEP: THE COMPLETE SERIES
SEASON ONE: “S1 of Veep comes with its ups and downs. While it’s usually funny, it can be a little too joke-oriented for its own good, as it doesn’t draw in the viewer with much other than its barbed one-liners. Still, these often amuse.”
SEASON TWO: “I found S1 of Veep to be funny but inconsistent, and I’d make the same claim about S2, though I think the series manages the ups and downs better this year. While it retains its joke-oriented, caustic sensibility, the gags feel better integrated and less gratuitous so this results in a more enjoyable package of shows as a whole.”
SEASON THREE: “Possibly the series’ best year, S3 of Veep offers a quality collection of shows. It moves along the overall narrative and provokes a bunch of laughs.”
SEASON FOUR: “Four years into its run and Veep works as well as ever – and maybe better, as S4 entertains at a consistently high level.”
SEASON FIVE: “With S5 of Veep, the series continues to chug along well. Biting and clever, we get a good collection of humor and acid-tipped satire.”
SEASON SIX: “In the series’ penultimate collection of episodes, S6 of Veep maintains its usual high level of quality. Though the overall narrative sputters at times, there’s still lots of good comedy on display here.”
SEASON SEVEN: “At its best, the seventh and final season of Veep offers clever, insightful material. However, it doesn’t work as well as the best Veep, and the concluding episode leaves me cold."
