1. Alien: 2003 Special Edition (Alien Quadrilogy Boxed Set) (1979)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: ... the 2003 DVD of Alien is a killer. The movie earned its status as an innovative classic, and despite some slow spots, it holds up well after all these years. The DVD presents startlingly excellent picture with dated but generally positive audio plus an excellent and deep set of supplements. For Alien fans, this set is a genuine treat. Starring Sigour

2. Blade Runner: 30th Anniversary Edition [Blu-Ray Book] (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Which is a shame. Viewed on its own, the “30th Anniversary” Blu-ray of Blade Runner is an awesome set. Even without all those extras, it still includes so many materials that it deserves an “A+” for supplements ... But it’s not the definitive release of the film. Blade Runner remains a classic, and the Blu-ray brings it home in satisfying fashion. Howe

3. Blade Runner: 5-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I’m glad I got the UCE, as I think it’s a nice set, and I’m enough of a completist that it was worth it to me. However, it’s just too damned expensive to be worthwhile for most people. The fifth DVD is the only real attraction, as the non-disc-based materials are a bit of a joke. Is it worth an extra $44 for one DVD and some cheap toys? For 99 percent of

4. Blade Runner: 5-Disc Complete Collector's Edition [Blu-Ray] (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Blade Runner remains a seminal science fiction piece that only seems to improve with additional viewings; its place within the annals of film appears secure. This set includes the director’s “Final Cut”, which indeed probably offers the most satisfying rendition of the film. The Blu-Ray looks absolutely stunning, and it adds very good audio and a long,

5. Kingdom Of Heaven: Ultimate Edition [Blu-Ray] (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Across the board, the Director's Cut of Heaven earns my recommendation. The extended version of the film becomes a quality flick, and the package presents it in a terrific manner. Starring Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson. Fox, $24.99, 10/7/2014.

6. Blade Runner: 4-Disc Collector's Edition (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: That leaves the debate between the two-disc and four-disc releases. Both have their merits, especially since its $20.99 MSRP makes the two-disc set the bargain of the year. But I think this four-disc version will be the one preferred by most fans. At $34.99, it remains reasonably priced, and it packs in more than enough good extras to make it worthwhile.

7. Alien Anthology: Bonus Material [Blu-Ray] (2010)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: ... I remain happy with the “Anthology”. It includes some of my all-time favorite movies and brings them to Blu-ray in generally good style. It’s certainly a dream for folks who want to know more about the series’ creation, as it comes packed with more supplements than I’d have dreamed possible. All of this makes me pretty pleased with this massive set.

8. Black Hawk Down: Deluxe Edition (2001)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: An astonishing package than must merit discussion as one of the greatest DVD releases yet seen.

9. Alien: Alien Anthology [Blu-Ray] (1979)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Alien is a killer. The movie earned its status as an innovative classic, and despite some slow spots, it holds up well after all these years. The Blu-ray presents excellent picture with dated but generally positive audio and some interesting supplements, though most of those will be reviewed elsewhere/later. In terms of basic movie presentation, Alien ha

10. Gladiator: Extended Edition (2000)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If you want just one Gladiator, I think this is the superior one. It lacks the earlier set’s DTS soundtrack, but it presents better picture and stronger supplements along with the best cut of the flick. Does that make the Extended Gladiator worth a double-dip for those who have the old set? Yes, but only if they really dig the movie. Those fans will defi
